Marketing these days calls for a lot less than it has in the past with more savvy marketers today just needing no more than three items in their possession.

A working laptop, an internet connection and a desire to succeed.

But is this really the case? I mean if this is all it took then shouldn’t we have thousands of internet millionaires all over the globe parading by now?

There are many but the failure rate is more than the success rate.

I think the last point is essentially critical to a successful outcome. Believe me when I say that to have a working laptop is so necessary as is the internet. But without the desire to succeed, you’re doomed.

The desire to succeed, however, that last item, is something that not everyone readily has, or even if they did, it sometimes comes and goes.

So let’s see what we can make of this last component in the 3 step equation.

The Recipe For Success In Marketing

I want to first get the excuses out of the way. That is those often mentioned things we hear people say because they don’t have them they don’t see themselves achieving success in marketing.

You’ll hear things being said like:

  • I don’t have much time.
  • I don’t have any money.
  • I don’t have a Social Media following.
  • I don’t have an email list.

And the list could go on and on but from where I sit, there have been scores of people who didn’t have these items either. Yet they went on to do great things in their marketing experience.

So let’s go through what we do need and prove that this is truly all there is to it for one to achieve success online. I know results are not typical so you all don’t have to agree with me.

So what is the recipe for success in marketing? What is the one thing that must be present if all else gives?

You Must Have The Desire 2 Succeed, But…..

I could begin to wrap up this article now and go on to doing other things that are calling for my attention right now, because I have now mentioned this component twice already.

The desire to succeed is the trouble spot among the 3 things I’ve mentioned as necessary for affiliate marketing. But it’s not just affiliate marketing. It’s any kind of marketing.

The reason I listed affiliate is that that’s the style of marketing that’s right now generating all the buzz. But the desire to succeed crosses all styles of marketing. In fact all areas of life.

So the question then becomes how do I develop this desire to succeed and then go on to have resounding success?

To answer that question, we must first consider other factors that will either contribute to or diminish the desire to succeed.

Once we have that area covered and solid, then we can go full steam ahead and never have to look back.

The Desire To Succeed Is Not All That Is Required in Marketing Whether Affiliate Or Otherwise

The desire to succeed just covers a very crucial component to the overall basis for one being able to achieve ones goals. Truth be told you will need a bit more than just a desire to succeed.

But what a desire to succeed does for you is that it gives you the drive to never quit on yourself even though the initial stages may be very tough and filled with challenges.

It also encompasses all of the other factors that were not mentioned from the beginning.

If you do have the desire to succeed, then that mindset catapults you to acquire knowledge on a grand scale to equip you with everything you will need.

So the desire to succeed has within it the resolve to push oneself beyond the comfort zone area and find all the tools one will need besides the basics.

The basics were what was mentioned at the beginning. Internet connection, Laptop, and the desire to succeed. But what else is needed? Under the tab, “desire to succeed” comes a number of other tabs.

Let me give you some examples. You’ll need to contemplate the following:-

  • Decide on a platform.
  • Choose your niche.
  • Find affiliate programs to join.
  • Create great content.
  • Drive traffic to your affiliate site.
  • Get clicks on your affiliate links.
  • Convert clicks to sales.

So you now have an idea of all that is to be contemplated. The three (3) items that were mentioned to start would have seen you getting things off the ground.

Seeking knowledge to know what to do next would have followed coupled with the further need to create a plan of consistent action being taken as you navigate your path. Learn more here.

And as you embark on your marketing journey, the process evolves with you becoming wiser and more experienced to what works and how to get closer to your goals.

So this is why in some circles that if a person is looking to get into any form of marketing, whether online or offline unless they possess a certain type of mindset, they are destined to fail even before they start.

Do You Have What It Takes?

I think it makes sense to have a more detailed perspective when considering what is needed for affiliate marketing, and more importantly that you have covered all necessary angles as is described here.

Only then would you have to the real picture of what you are getting into and if it is something that is really worth your time and effort.

The question as in the title of this post only takes into consideration an idea or concept that floats into one’s mind at the beginning, but needs to evolve into more areas than what’s initially considered.

Do you have what it takes to go the distance and put in all that is truly required?

Having listed all the other variables that you will need to factor in, now you can decide whether online marketing specifically affiliate marketing is your ultimate choice of marketing to pursue.

The benefits of affiliate marketing are numerous when you take the overall view into the mix.

  • You can create your own working hours.
  • You never need to store inventory.
  • You never have to worry about customer support.
  • You can effectively make money in your sleep.
  • No need to get up early to commute long hours to work.
  • Not being pinned down to one specific product to promote.

And there are so many more but I believe you get the point. But I am not saying that it is a walk in the park even though the benefits are what they are. You’ll still need to develop certain skills and discipline.

So do you have what it takes? As you can now see the desire to succeed does require more to be involved in the success equation than what might have been first believed.

For some entrepreneurs, the process might be summed up as needing to have those 3 critical things, but when you get down to the nitty gritty, you’ll discover it takes a lot more.

Let’s Wrap Up

I do hope that you were able to see that while many are looking for a way to make a living working from home and have considered online marketing, think long and hard on what it is you desire and what’s actually required.

In looking at what’s required, think long term and not just something that can be termed a quick fix as this gets you nowhere.

While having an internet connection as was suggested or even the proverbial laptop, having a strong purpose or desire to succeed does not in anyway guarantee your success on its own.

Having a desire to succeed is not the same as doing whatever it takes to win and having that mindset that will see you going at all times against whatever challenges are thrown at you.

Having a desire to succeed is a feeling or motive. Actually establishing and executing a plan of action towards achieving your goals is more realistic and sustainable than just have a strong urge.

I wish you success as you start your marketing journey. Working from home whether you are involved in affiliate or network marketing can be very rewarding.

Affiliate marketing is by far the most popular and when done correctly can be very lucrative. That’s it for now. See you soon again.
