1. Understanding How Organic Marketing Works.
There are two main ways to market your product or service through social media platforms such as Facebook. You can either pay for advertising or do it organically.
Organic marketing involves posting quality content on your Facebook page and letting people find you naturally.
It doesn’t require a lot of money or a big budget to do well in this arena.
As long as you have the ability to produce unique, engaging content that solves a problem or fills a need for your community, you can make this work.
As digital marketing continues to grow and develop, brands take great advantage of using technology and the Internet as a means of reaching their target audience.
So the content needs to be engaging and helpful. It can be in the form of videos, articles, or images.
If you post regularly, then chances are your fans will interact with you.
Over time, you can gain followers and likes, which further boosts your visibility – and your business.
For a long time, digital marketing was synonymous with “Internet marketing,” but this is changing now.
Because let’s face it, social media is a great way to share content and advertise products to an audience that is receptive to your message.
This is essentially how organic marketing works. Facebook is just the platform used in the way of social media to boost one’s organic reach.
The two most important areas then for consideration of your Facebook organic marketing reach are content and the audience being targeted.
The problem is most people don’t use Facebook marketing to its full potential, but the social media giant does educate users on how to make the most of the platform.
Besides having a userbase in the millions even crossing a billion users, Facebook uses certain tools to help users meet their objectives.
One such tool that has had a revamping of sorts is the former “Newsfeed” which is now known simply as Feed.
Actually, you can learn quite a bit about other tools Facebook uses to give you a complete overview at the link above or simply click this one in case you missed it.
2. What Makes Facebook So Effective For Marketing
If you use Facebook organic marketing methods to promote your business, you will see an increase in sales.
This is because when people search for products and services online, they tend to click on links posted by friends and family first.
By promoting your business on Facebook, you can reach more potential customers than ever before. But there’s another more obvious reason.
Facebook boasts an average of over 2 billion users. With that much traffic in circulation, you can now understand why the social platform is such a goldmine.
Facebook has been named among the most popular social networks worldwide as of January 2022, ranked by the number of monthly active users according to Statistica.
While in recent times the popularity of the platform has dropped a bit, yet more and more people throng Facebook daily.
In fact, doing Facebook organic reach 2022 has improved sales of marketers by leaps and bounds.
Another point to consider that the platform is noted for is its detailed targeting features. Facebook will guide you to locate and target your ideal audience
How Facebook Grew Over The Past 5 Years
2.9 billion Number of monthly active Facebook users worldwide as of 1st quarter 2022
1.7 billion Number of monthly active Facebook users worldwide as of 1st quarter 2021:
2.6 billion Number of monthly active Facebook users worldwide as of 1st quarter 2020:
3.4 billion Number of monthly active Facebook users worldwide as of 1st quarter 2019:
4.3 billion Number of monthly active Facebook users worldwide as of 1st quarter 2018:
The above is just to show you the trends and how the social media giant has been growing over the past 5 years and will continue to grow.
While the company took a nose dive going from 3.4 billion active monthly users in 2019 which saw the pandemic beginning around October/November of the same year…..
All the way down to 1.7 billion active monthly users in 2021, it was able to bounce back in 2022 to 2.9 billion active monthly users.
That’s pretty commendable for them despite the apparently negative but true press they had been getting.
3. The Tools Making The Most Impact On Facebook Organic Marketing Success
The two most used tools on Facebook right now I would say are the Feed and Messenger tools. Facebook allows you to shape your feed in a way that matters to you, and your audience.
To give a user the best experience possible, Feed now takes into consideration three main signals to estimate how relevant they think a post would be to the user or to us (me & you).
This is the criteria that the Facebook algorithm goes by in determining what you see and how you see or interact with it to a greater than lesser degree.
- Who posted the content?
- The type of content that it was
- The number of interactions with the specific content
If you’ve read all the posts from your friends and family that you want to see in your feed, then they will be prioritized in your feed.
Type of content we prioritized: We prioritize the type of content you interact with most frequently. If you prefer pictures, we show more pictures.
Interactions with the post: Posts that get lots of likes, reactions, comments, and shares (especially from people you interact with most) will be shown to you first.
Based on these signals, each post is given a score to determine where it will appear in your Feed and which stories appear first.
I’ll go into more on the Feed later in this article, but just remember that Facebook’s goal is to keep you on their platform for as long as possible. Ask yourself why? To see ads of course as that’s how they are paid.
Facebook is about advertising.
In Comes Facebook Messenger
Messenger is about conversations and convos to create depth in relationships. This leads to more convos, more interaction, and more time being spent on the platform.
You can learn more about Messenger here and why it is considered the tool of tools when it comes to Facebook users. Read all about Messenger here.
Facebook also provides courses so users can become better educated on how to use and make the most of its tools.
When it comes to Facebook organic marketing there is an A.I. tool that is really a gem to use as it simplifies the whole approach to getting leads and building relationships.
And all this is done through Messenger. That tool I will share with you another time as I might do a review post so you’ll learn all about it there.
Facebook Audience Targeting
So wouldn’t it make sense to learn how to do Facebook organic marketing? You can later go on to learn how to do paid ads with Facebook to then scale your business.
Since this is an area that I believe many people are not too clear on and would welcome some light shed on the subject matter, I’ll share a tutorial video here.
Now while it is true that our subject is really on Facebook organic marketing and you may be wondering why the ads targeting video, well I’m more looking at how you go about your targeting per se.
Even in the organic zone, you still have to know how you will go about targeting the audience that you desire to build connections with.
However and it is true that a typical organic approach would see you using your branding and your content to draw or attract those ideal clients to yourself as your marketing is directly tailored for them.
Suffice it to say though you must have a Facebook marketing strategy in mind. I do promote a deep dive course related to Facebook organic marketing.
If that is something you think you might find to be of value for you as I know it did for me then I invite you to CLICK Here.
If you decide to acquire the course there are payment options available.
I will state the very obvious here by the way, and it is this. Despite the role that Facebook organic marketing plays, at some point or another, paid ads will have to be used to scale your business.
That is if you are looking to do so in a much quicker time frame.
I will more than likely write a post fully devoted to doing paid ads and using the Facebook platform for their execution.
4. The Facebook Algorithm & How You Can Use It To Boost Your Reach
When it comes to the Facebook algorithm, while it continues to baffle many, maybe the focus ought to be on what you actually post.
The example shown here in this photo by my friend Parker Chmiel is a fitting example.
He gives value in a simple one-line quote.
It is a factual statement as well. People can resonate with it.
Some might have actually experienced it.
We can see by the number of likes & loves he has gotten and also the number of comments received.
Besides posting great content that your audience can relate to and have it attract them, it may be interesting also to know when to post and if there are any pre-posting activities one must engage in before launching your own post.
It is necessary at some times to actually do what is called warming up the algorithm before setting out to share your content with your Facebook audience.
The Facebook Algorithm: What Is It?
In the world of online marketing, there’s always something new and exciting to learn. And, when it comes to social media, there is no shortage of things you can do.
The key is to make sure you choose what works best for your business. Let’s take a look at one of the most common questions asked by marketers: “How can I boost my reach on Facebook?”
A recent study by the Pew Research Center found that more than half (55%) of the American population uses social media, and Facebook is the most popular site with a total of over 1.32 billion users. That was then.
As Facebook becomes more prevalent, it becomes increasingly important for businesses to market their products on the site.
In fact, there are more than 500 million monthly active users on Facebook alone! Facebook has become one of the most powerful marketing tools in existence.

I find more and more people tend to favor these types of posts
To increase your reach you must know what Facebook employs or favors to help it deliver on its platform. That tool is known as the Facebook algorithm.
You must have an idea of how the Facebook algorithm works and what it takes to have it work in your favor when it comes to your marketing reach.
The Facebook algorithm is a very complex piece of software that runs behind the scenes to determine what posts appear in your News Feed.
Your friends’ actions, posts, comments, and likes affect what content appears in your News Feed.
Facebook uses an algorithm that determines what content should be shown to you, based on who you are connected to, what you post, and what you comment on.
Test what I am saying and see for yourself.
What Does This Mean For You?
It means that the news feed is the way that Facebook decides to show you information about your friends.
It’s the first screen that people see when they go to Facebook and it’s the way that Facebook can show you things that are relevant to you.
This is a very powerful tool for Facebook, as well as for marketers. They can target ads toward the people that they want to reach and get in front of.
With the exception of YouTube – the video-sharing site used by 81% of adults – no other major online platform comes close to Facebook in terms of usage. This is according to the Pew Research Center.
So as you would have learned, The Facebook algorithm is a set of rules and techniques that…
Facebook uses to determine what posts are seen by whom on its platform.
It is designed to give you a more personalized experience on Facebook. It is also one of the biggest factors in determining your success as a Facebook marketer.
You may be surprised to learn that the Facebook algorithm is not based on what content you post.
Instead, it’s based on a number of factors that determine what content people see. These include: How often you post. Your audience’s demographics.
Whether you’re active in a group or community. How many other people are interacting with your posts? And the list goes on.
Your friends and other people who are important to you can influence your News Feed.
Because Facebook determines what content you see in your feed by who you’re connected to, what you post, and what you comment on, it becomes necessary to keep abreast of who’s active on your friend’s list.
In other words when it comes to using Facebook organic marketing strategies quality and consistency play a huge factor in your reach being what you’d want it to be.
The algorithm picks this up and so this is why as some would call it, you have to develop practices that warm the algorithm in your favor.
5. The Content That Helps The Algorithm Favor Your Organic Marketing Efforts
The Facebook algorithm was developed by a team of researchers from Cornell University, which is why it’s known as the Cornell algorithm.
The goal of the algorithm is to improve how Facebook displays content to its users so that they get more relevant results as they navigate through their newsfeed.
It’s been in place for years and has been an important tool for Facebook’s efforts to make its site easier to use.
But in recent months, the algorithm has begun to change, and it’s starting to impact the way that content shows up on our newsfeeds. This could be for a number of reasons.
But we shall focus on what you ought to be doing content-wise to ensure you reach your decided goals.
Facebook uses a set of signals to determine which posts appear in your newsfeed, including the following:
- Posts from friends and pages you follow
- The most recent activity on your timeline
- Posts from Pages you like
- Posts from groups you’re a member of
- The content of your messages on Messenger
In addition to Facebook using signals to determine which posts appear in your newsfeed, it also looks at :
- The time that you post
- The number of likes or shares that you receive for a post
- Whether you’re logged in to Facebook at the time that you post
- The type of media (photo, video, or text) you post
If you’ve ever wondered why a particular post was added to your feed, it’s probably because one of these factors comes into play.
Facebook makes it easy to measure how well your posts are performing using Facebook Insights.
